How to Convert an Image to PDF

PDF is the format people expect when you send a document. If what you have is a photo of a receipt, a scanned form, or a screenshot, converting it to PDF makes it easier to share, print, and attach. Here’s the simple way to do it.

Convert an image to PDF

  1. Open the Image to PDF tool.
  2. Add your image, or several images at once.
  3. If you added more than one, put them in the order you want the pages to appear.
  4. Download the PDF.

Each image becomes a page. The work happens in your browser, so your files are never uploaded.

When this is handy

  • Receipts and expense reports. Snap a photo, convert it, and you have a clean PDF to submit.
  • Forms you filled in by hand. Take a picture of each page and combine them into one document.
  • Screenshots. Bundle several into a single PDF instead of sending a pile of loose image files.

Combining many photos into one PDF

The Image to PDF tool already lets you add several images and turns each into a page, which covers most cases. If you’ve already made separate PDFs and want to join them, use Merge PDF to combine them into one file.

Going the other way

Need to pull a picture back out of a PDF? PDF to image saves each page as a PNG or JPG, which is useful when you want to reuse a single page as a graphic.

Tips for a good-looking PDF

  • Crop first if your photo has a lot of background. A tighter shot of the document reads better as a page.
  • Good lighting beats high resolution. A clear, evenly lit photo turns into a far more readable PDF than a dark, huge one.
  • Watch the orientation. Make sure photos are right-side up before converting so you don’t get sideways pages.
